Future Collector Cars List

Well, I was going to write a fairly emo post in response to the latest violent acres post, but instead I decided that I'll write about cars I think will be collector cars in the future, and some explanations of why. Note that I'm going to avoid really obvious ones, like a Bugatti EB110, and the Koenigsegg CCX.

Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) V-Spec II Nur
Probably the best example of Japanese muscle. This car is so well tuned that in racing they have to disable the 4-wheel steering, and give it a 50kg weight penalty. The RB26DETT engine is well regarded as one of the best built engines ever. It's been known to output nearly 700bhp with only light modifications, and up to 1400bhp and still be streetable. These are cars made for the 0-300kph competitions.

Toyota Supra Twin Turbo
Even just the look of these cars is great. Not only are they exceedingly rare to find unmodified and still in good condition, but they are also known throughout the tuner world as stiff competition for nearly any kind of event. The 3.0L twin-turbo engine is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Toyota Sera
It's a consumer car with gullwing doors. That right there instantly makes it worth collecting. That's even before knowing that they didn't make that many of them, and that they're only available in Japan.

Mazda (Efini) RX-7 Spirit R (FD)
I've got a friend with one of these. They are amongst the most beautiful cars I have ever seen. The performance in nearly unheard of for such a small displacement engine, and it's a marvel of modern engineering.

Subaru Impreza WRX STi (Type1, Type4)
These are the two STi models that best exemplify the car. The Type1 ('98) model is basically a rally car in street form, and is hardly ever seen. The Type4 ('04) model is probably the most aggressive looking STi ever made. The EJ25 engine is pretty stout as well. But nothing screams barely legal like the massive wing and exhaust.

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI
This is not only the fastest model of EVO, but also the most renowned. I honestly can't think of much to say about this car, it pretty much just speaks for itself. Just the fact that nearly everyone knows what this car is, and what it can do shows why it should be in this list.

Dodge Viper SRT-10
Nothing screams American muscle like the Viper. It's got a V10 engine that puts out 500bhp and an unimaginable amount of torque. The look is awesome too, with the long front hood, and the wide rear tires, you know the car is not something to be messed with.

Hummer H1-Alpha
Pretty much the originator of the SUV era. Just for that fact, it's instantly collectible. But just look at it, what kid (or grown up kid) wouldn't want to drive that around? It's like owning your own personal tank.

Honda Civic Type R (EG6)
When you think cheap performance, the Honda Civic always comes up. The EG6 Type R is probably the most recognizable of all the civics. With its rounded hatchback rear, and blazing performance, it's wanted by all who know about it.

Honda NSX Type-R Zero (Gen 2)
This largely underrated car is probably what I'd consider to be the ultimate collector car in the future. The performance that this car gave was outlandishly fast, and it looked pretty much like a space ship. These cars were rare and powerful. Even to this day it holds its own on the race track beating out competition like the M5 and M6.

So there's the list and all my reasonings. I suppose this may as well be labeled "cool cars" but then I'd have to make the list significantly longer.

The Night Of

I'm trying to decide if I want to go to EB Games tonight at midnight to pick up my copy of the world of warcraft expansion pack. On one hand, it'd be totally awewsome, and there would be no way that I wouldn't get my copy. On the other hand, it's cold, snowing, late, and I have to work early the next morning. I think you can tell that I'm leaning towards the no side. I'm still going to give EB Games a quick call in a couple of minutes to ensure that they'll be getting my preorder in. They'd better be, I preordered that back around march last year when it was first announced. Seriously, if they screw up like they did with Guitar Hero, I'm going to beat them.

In other news I decided that I'd only work at my current coop placement for 4 months instead of 8. It's not that I dislike the place, it's just that I'd like to get other experiences before I go out on the job market. I applied to Ubisoft today, and I'm giving them 2 (very generous) weeks to get back to me before I phone them up or show up and ask for an explanation, or at least give them a gentle reminder that I'm still here. If they're really not interested, then I suppose I'll start looking at other places that the coop office can provide *shudder*. Or maybe I'll try going back to Ross Video. They seemed to like me, and I mostly enjoyed that.

In marginally more emo news, I'm tired of all my ideas getting shut down by my parents and girlfriend. I wanted to buy a 240sx, no, I wanted to buy a skyline, no, I went back to more available cars, yes but only when I graduate. And the latest is that I wanted a car for my last year of studies, so that I wouldn't have to take the bus every day. It is in fact several hundred dollars cheaper to buy a parking pass instead of express passes, but then there's gas and other stuff. Either way I was shut down hardcore again. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a simple no, but instead it's a 20 minute conversation as to why it's wrong and why I should stop bothering to ask questions and announce my intentions.

That's not a bad idea though, I'll just stop announcing my intentions and just do it. Next time I see a decent Kouki S14 for sale for a decent price, I'll just go for it. Seriously, enough of having every single move I do questioned. If it worked for buying computer parts and software (much to my parent's displeasure), it should work for other things.

Weekend Thoughts

So I'm here at home, doing nothing in particular and a couple of thoughts hit me. These are pretty random so bear with me.

Atomic Kitten is totally hot. I had forgotten how awesome their videos were until today when I saw them available for download. Gotta say, it's good stuff. Jenny Frost's solo song, crash landing I think it's called, is probably the hottest video since... hey mama?

So world of warcraft is being stupid today. Yesterday I was easily able to log in, no problems at all, and now today I'm being told that I have a version mismatch. Now I'm far from alone, as most of the people on the forums claim that they're not able to get in either, for the same reason. Apparently one of their recent client-side patches caused this problem. You know, maybe if they tested their patches before releasing them problems like this could be avoided. This doesn't bode well for the release of the burning crusade on tuesday. I was really hoping to get some final preparations in today, like farming a whole lot of runecloth and running strat or scholo or brs for the first time. I just don't understand why they needed to have so many consecutive patches. 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.3, 2.0.4, 2.0.5. That's ridiculous, try and tell me that 2.0.3 through 2.0.5 couldn't have been all rolled together into a single patch, they were released within 4 days of each other. Whatever, as long as when I log in on tuesday with my burning crusade installed, and everything (except for my mods probably) works fine, I'll be happy. That is until I have to start grinding to 70.

I have the urge to build something today. I dunno why, and it's not the first time this has happened to me either. I think it's my inner manly instincts telling me to make something so that people will recognize me. I guess I just want a sense of accomplishment. I suppose I could program something cool, but that's not really what I want. Sorta wish I was handier with wood and metal and stuff, maybe then I could build a cabinet or something.

I've officially given up on trying to get an R32 skyline as my first car. It's just too much trouble to import and the pieces are too scare over here. If anything breaks then I'd be SOL for a few weeks. Not to mention that driving it in the winter would be one hell of an experience. So instead I've settled on either a G35, 350Z, or 240SX (S14). Those are in descending order of price, and quality. We'll see how things go.

Yeah, well I'm done my rambling for today, maybe more tomorrow, we'll see.
